Baby is Here!

Wow! What a week.  Baby came one week ago, and boy are we tired! Now that everything is (somewhat) back to normal and technicalities over with- daily billirubin screenings over, circumcision done, and getting into a routine of restless nights- we are proud to introduce baby Ernesto Cruz Flores to the world.
6.29.11- 7 lbs. 1 oz
Lucky for me, and the sanity of my husband, baby made his way in to the world 2 1/2 weeks early. Had I have known I started laboring at 8:30 in the morning, the day would have been a long one, but since I was unaware of my water breaking, we drove down to American Fork to celebrate the sealing of my sister and her husband to little Harley. After setting up tables and chairs, spending time with family, and eating (of course) I decided I didn't feel well and called the hospital to see what I should do.  Made it down to the hospital from American Fork at 3:30 and was admitted immediately- not prepared to be leaving with a baby.  No bags, no clothes, not even our own car.
Everything else flew by. The doctors' said I was made for having babies, because within a few short hours I was ready to push, and baby "Nesto" was here shortly after 9 pm.

Now that we are home, we couldn't imagine life without this little guy. Although we are new to parenting, and don't really have a clue to what we are doing most days, we love our baby more than anything and can't wait to see what the future has in store!

Countdown

Wow.  How do people keep up with these things?  The past month has flown by.  Our baby's room is getting so close to being finished.  The walls are all primed, we just need to get the color on them and put in the carpet.  So ready to set up the crib and get things organized.  After my fab baby shower last weekend, I have baby stuff spread all over the house in various corners and closets.  (Thank you for all that came by the way.  My mom and sisters did a great job and I received many wonderful and much needed gifts for this little- or not so little- bundle of joy and backaches.)

I went in for my 34 week appointment today and everything looks good. The doctor said I am in no way going to be a lucky lady and have a 6 pound baby and that I will be lucky if he is no bigger than 8 lbs. (AH!)  No, no gestational diabetes or anything, just "good" genes from my husband.  Yes, my husband was almost 10 pounds at birth and put his poor mother in a wheelchair for 3 months.  I can't say I was any better, weighing in at over 8 and breaking my mom's tailbone.  Cross your fingers this baby doesn't rip me apart. Doctor did say that this baby could come any time now and we will not try to keep him in if he decides to come early.  Not too early though, there is still much to be done.  39 days and counting!

Potty Breaks and Toenails

In one week I will be headed here...

I am going to sit my big round self on a nice beach chair...(Hey Dad, can I borrow your beach chair?  I promise to TRY not to break it with my hugeness) and bask in the California sun for 5 days.

Unfortunately, we will be driving. A normally 10 hour drive will probably take about 15 with a pregnant lady in tow.  I will try to limit my fluids, but baby likes to find that nice resting spot right on my bladder. Potty break estimate: 7.

For the next week, I plan to take on this old piece of work we call our home to try to get it a little more cozy for baby. New walls, new paint, new carpet.
Now Accepting Willing Volunteers
I say I will work, but I will probably just watch my husband labor relentlessly while I try to figure out how I am going to get my toes painted in time for the beach.  Oh, the joys of summertime!

Shopping isn't so fun when you are big and round

I somehow managed to find some decent looking maternity wear today.  Thank goodness for it too because I believe I have been cutting off my poor baby's circulation due to the tightness of my pre-pregnancy (and hopefully post-pregnancy) "normal" wear.  I am definitely getting bigger, more round, and feeling more uncomfortable every day- good news is that my hugeness translates to a growing, healthy baby. And yes, I am fully aware that I am getting bigger by the hour.  You don't have to stare at my stomach with eyes bulging to make me feel that way.  I am pregnant. I promise I didn't just eat a small cow- although I probably could.

Speaking of big and round, I find myself completely awkward working concerts anymore. Somehow hard rock, or any type of "show" music, and pregnancy don't mix very well. Granted, rock concerts probably aren't the best environment for a growing baby anyway.

I also just finished up my three week field experience in a fifth grade classroom and loved it. It was in no way easy, but the classroom environment is so fun and I cannot wait to have a class of my own. For now, I have to go back to my regular college life and complete the 19 assignments due in the next two weeks before finals. um....AGH! Let's hope I survive.

Look Out Ladies!

Apparently my son is quite the free spirit and has no problem with "showing off".  Today's ultra sound proved he is not shy about previewing his goods.  Hopefully this legs spread phase doesn't last too long.

Oh, and I wish they made cuter maternity clothes

Baby Has Bedding...Fabric

Thanks to my crafty mother for offering up her sewing abilities, we were able to go fabric shopping yesterday for the baby's room.  Let's just say that baby is going to have the cutest room in the house.
Just a peak...

Now all we have to figure out is where we want to live!

No Longer An "IT" Baby

We are having a BOY!
We are so excited. Little Ernesto Cruz Flores will arrive in July. Ernie is already planning out all the little things he can do with his son. I hope he isn't as rambunctious as his daddy was- however, he is already showing some Flores traits.  At the ultrasound, he was giving us the gun and the wink- Ernie's signature greeting.

We will see what else this little boy brings us soon enough.  As for now, we are excited to be getting things ready for him...couldn't resist a little shopping trip.

So glad to be having a summer baby
